New Service Protects Customers From Cell Phone Overage Charges

Minute Alert conveniently notifies customers when they are about to go over on their cell phone minutes, saving them money on unexpected cell phone overage fees.

June 2, 2007 – Dallas, Texas – Anyone who has felt the sticker shock of surpassing the number of cell phone minutes on their plan does not want to make this costly mistake again.  Cell phone companies generate revenue from not only monthly charges, but cell phone overage charges too.  Cell phone overage rates range anywhere between 40 to 45 cents per minute.  That can cost cell phone users anywhere from $20 to $100, or more. Of course people could check their minutes every half hour, but who has that kind of time?

That’s why Minute Alert has developed a system to prevent these expensive mistakes every month.  For a monthly fee of only $19.99, a cost exponentially lower than most cell phone overage charges, Minute Alert notifies its customers via text messages and/or emails with mobile alerts before they go over on their cell phone minutes.

Minute Alert works with cell phone carriers, with the permission of customers, to obtain information regarding their cell phone minutes.  By signing up at http://www.minutealert.com to receive mobile alerts, many subscribers have already started saving money and avoiding unnecessary cell phone overage charges.

“After a fruitless search for a service that would automatically alert me when I went over my minutes, I decided to create a service that would do exactly that,” says Kfir Alfia, founder of Minute Alert.

A survey polled by Minute Alert stated that 98% of those polled who had incurred cell phone minute overages, said they would have reduced cell phone usage if they had known they had run out of minutes.  A simple notice could have easily prevented this problem.  Cell phone providers have the capability to do this, but they simply don’t.

Minute Alert automatically sends a warning when subscribers dip below their chosen minute threshold to which their account is set.  A second notice is sent when subscribers go below zero minutes.  After the billing cycle ends, the process restarts.

With this convenient service, cell phone users can control their cell phone bills and avoid overage charges.  Now, parents can receive text messages or emails notifying them when their kids are about to go over on their cell phone minutes.  Parents can keep their kids’ cell phone use under control and never pay another cell phone overage again.  Not only that, but with the daily and monthly usage reports, parents can monitor their kids’ cell phone use as well.  This is also great for employers who want to manage their employee’s company cell phone usage.
